<p>Anxiety and depression can be treated with very good results, so it is important to get a proper diagnosis so that a treatment plan can be worked out. The doctor can talk to the patient and explain to them exactly what the course of treatment is going to be and what they should expect to happen.</p>
<p>Treatment may consist of both drugs and therapy. While the drugs will start to relieve the symptoms of depression and make life feel more bearable for the patient, the therapy will look at the reason for the depression and will teach the patient how to deal with this so that they recover hopefully for good.</p>
<p>If one method of therapy does not seem to be effective then perhaps the physician will try another method. This treatment alongside the drugs will be effective but some patience may be needed.</p>
<p>Overall the treatment will take some time to be effective, and will usually take place over a period of several months over which time the patient will start to see a gradual improvement in their mood and attitude to life. <p>If you cannot get your work-related stress alone, then you will need to see a professional, who may be able to find individualized methods for you to cope. Seeing a specialist is not a sign of weakness or an admission of defeat; it merely indicates that you realize that you have a situation that you want to improve. Your doctor will be able to spot the physical symptoms of work-related stress and they will also help you identify the causes of stress, give advice on relaxation techniques and / or refer you to a counselor.</p>
<p>Are you being harassed on the job? Is this causing you work-related stress? Is someone bullying you? If either of these situations is the root, then talk to someone in your personnel department or in your human resources office. <p>1. Duh&#8230; exercise. It&#8217;s a clich for a reason. Exercise is the most sure-fire way to beat stress. Even a lively walk several times a week will help enormously. But if you can find a stationary bike to ride or someone to shoot hoops with, even better. It&#8217;s a fact: the more you exercise, the better you will feel. You will find your stress level abates and you will sleep more soundly, too.</p>
<p>2. Assemble a study group. If you&#8217;re stressed about a course, gather some other students and form a study group. Four or five others to go over the material once a week should do it. Even the most stubborn problem can be conquered with other minds on the matter. And don&#8217;t underestimate your contribution: You have things to offer, too, concepts they couldn&#8217;t get from the lecture or the text that came easily to you.</p>
<p>3. Eat nutritiously. If you are on meal plan, choose your foods well. Make sure you eat lots of vegetables (e.g., leafy greens), protein, and complex carbohydrates (brown rice, bran, corn meal). Invest in a nutrition book to learn which foods are healthiest for you. If you live off campus, prepare quick, simple meals like rice and beans, tuna sandwiches, pasta, stir fry, and salads. Set aside time once a week to cook something that you can keep in the fridge and heat up during the week-a vegetable casserole or a soup, perhaps. Avoid sugar as much as possible. And don&#8217;t get too hungry; hunger can mimic stress and make you feel ungrounded and overwhelmed. Eating well, on the other hand, will help you to feel centered and efficient.</p>
<p>4. Seek help. If you are having trouble with a particular course, or if your course load feels too heavy, or if you find yourself feeling worried and nervous much of the time, talk to your advisor. That&#8217;s what he or she is for. Don&#8217;t try and tough it out. You (and maybe your parents) are paying good money to be in college, and you have the right to get the most out of it that you can. Being overwhelmed and stressed is not the best way to learn. Your advisor may suggest you drop a course and add something different, or take fewer credits for a semester. If talking to your advisor isn&#8217;t enough, consider seeing the college counselor or a therapist to talk things through.</p>
<p>5. Have some fun. Remember college is supposed to be the best years of your life. Don&#8217;t spend it miserable and stressed. Get out with your friends. Go to the movies or a show. Have some friends over for dinner or drinks. Ask out that guy/girl you like. Spending time with friends is an excellent cure for stress. And don&#8217;t be afraid to talk about the stress you&#8217;re feeling. You&#8217;d be surprised how many other people feel the same thing.</p>
<p>It is easy to get overwhelmed by the demands <a href="http://www.college-admission-profiles.com">college</a>. But if you take good care of yourself, you will find that your stress level diminishes.
